The short version
Toward Reconstitution is an independent research and public scholarship project. This website does not currently ask visitors to create accounts, submit contact information, join an email list, or make purchases.
The site does use third-party services to host the website, understand general site traffic, and deliver the Toward Reconstitution podcast. Those services process some technical and usage information as described below.
Squarespace hosting & analytics
This website is hosted by Squarespace and uses Squarespace's built-in analytics. Squarespace may process information about your browser, network, and device; the pages you visited before arriving here; your IP address; and information about how you use the site, including pages visited, clicks, scrolling, searches, and timestamps.
Toward Reconstitution uses Squarespace analytics to understand general site traffic and how the website is being used. It does not use Google Analytics.
Toward Reconstitution has disabled Squarespace's Activity Log, which otherwise provides site owners with a visitor-level record of recent page visits and associated information.
The goal is to understand whether and how the work is being read — not to build profiles of individual readers.

Cookies are small pieces of data stored on a visitor's device. Squarespace uses necessary cookies to securely operate and deliver this website. These cookies are required for the site to function and are used automatically.
Squarespace also uses analytics and performance cookies that help measure site traffic and activity. On Toward Reconstitution, non-essential cookies are restricted. These optional cookies are used only after a visitor accepts them through the site's cookie banner.
Visitors can accept optional cookies, decline them, or choose individual preferences through Manage cookies. Those choices can later be changed using the site's Cookie Preferences control.

Embedded content & Transistor
Toward Reconstitution uses embedded podcast players provided by Transistor. These players are embedded into the site as third-party content.
When podcast content is loaded or played, Transistor may process listener information associated with delivering and measuring the podcast. According to Transistor's current data-processing documentation, listener data can include an IP address, user agent, approximate geographic location derived from an IP address, request timestamps, referring application or client, and playback and download events.
Transistor processes this information according to its own privacy and data-protection practices. Its embedded player is a separate service from Squarespace, so Squarespace's cookie controls do not necessarily govern all technical information processed when Transistor content is loaded or used.

Toward Reconstitution may add features in the future, including the ability to subscribe by email. If the information collected through this website, the services used to operate it, or the way visitor information is handled materially changes, this notice will be updated to reflect those changes.
